The guitar is used in just about any type of music you can imagine. From classical to heavy metal, country to jazz, the guitar is present. When learning how to play guitar, instructions are very easy to find.

For the beginner, you should look for resources that start out basic and build slowly. Nothing will come overnight, so practice is an essential part of learning how to play guitar. Instructions will certainly help, but practice is what will make the difference.

There are many ways and methods available to the beginner. From tutorial web sites and videos to magazines and lesson books. You can even get DVD lessons if you look hard enough.
Whatever method you decide upon, the basics should be taught first.

The basics include picking out the correct instrument for a beginner, how to hold the guitar, how to tune a guitar, the parts of the guitar and what you will need to start. After these are covered, further basics are covered including reading sheet music, the notes on each string and building chords.

Resources on these and much more are widely available on and off line. All types of books, magazines and written material are attainable at music stores. Most can be ordered via mail or even by web download.
Then there are the online resources for the beginner. Web sites abound with free basic instruction and information. Some even offer video tutorials.

One of the best ways to learn how to play guitar online is through lessons on DVD. These are very good as they include not only instructions but video accompaniment. You can learn the proper way, hear how it should sound and see how it is done. I find that a visual aspect is powerful and helps the student learn faster.

Again, whichever way you decide to learn how to play guitar, instructions are an absolute necessity in the beginning. As you advance, the video and audio enhancements available are extraordinary. If you look far enough, you can find a lot of these resources for free.

These play guitar instructions will give a good start, but one on one lesson with an instructor cannot be beat in my opinion. A good instructor can move you along nicely and monitor your progress. Another great part of going to an instructor is that you get a taste of playing guitar with somebody else.

In any case, when you learn how to play guitar, instruction is the key. Good solid, rounded instruction cannot be beaten. Instructors can be found the same way as the self teach resources. The best thing for you to do is look around, see what's out there and pick the best fit for you. Every player is different, learns at different speeds and at different levels.

Don't think that online resources are not enough. Not by any means as some of the world's best players are self taught. Jimi Hendrix was a self taught musician and look what he accomplished in his career.

Learn how to play guitar instructions are a very important part of the process and can be found for free if you look hard enough.
