The Guitar Keys used in Celtic Music
The traditional Celtic music was originally formed with keys like D, G or related cross-keys. During that period, the instruments accompanied guitar were commonly fixed key diatonic instruments such as simple flute, bagpipes etc. Those instruments had limited capacity, mostly privileged with certain keys that made it impossible to play the song in other key. The guitarist could easily change his key pattern but for the supporting musicians most of the Celtics of that classic period were formed in D, G or related cross-keys.
